The tour inside the caves of Is Zuddas

The tour lasts about an hour and covers a distance of 950m. During the tour, the guide makes several stops to recount the tales and details of the wonders surrounding the visitors. Inside the caves there is a constant temperature of 16°C with a relative humidity well above 90%, which is why it is best to wear closed shoes during the tour.

The first part of the caves is damaged with a considerable number of fractured stalactites due to the explosives used to open the artificial entrance.

Before reaching the second part of the caves you pass through the “Erosion Room”, where you can observe rocks dating back to 530 million years ago.

In the Organ Room you can begin to admire some of the acicular crystals of aragonite that are abundant throughout the caves.

In the last room you can admire the eccentric concretions or helictites, extremely fine concretions that seem to defy the force of gravity.

The cave entrance is located at 246m ASL and, from the ticket office, you climb a 50m-long flight of steps to reach it. This entrance is artificial and was created in the late 1960s.

After descending a long flight of steps, you are met by a large flow known as the “Medusa” (Jellyfish) due to its shape.

As you come out of the connecting tunnel you reach the “Organ Room”, the largest room in the Caves, whose name derives from the large, fractured column that resembles the pipes of an old organ.

The "Theatre Room” is the highest room in the Caves and the first area in the second part that was discovered in 1971.
